Lily and the Fairy House is a sequel to Isabella’s Secret. This time I chose to place the story in a native Australian garden and I used native wrens and butterflies so Australian readers could identify them easily.

Lily is wearing gumboots and a warm jacket and the garden hints at early spring...there are puddles, a rainbow and drops of water on the leaves...some plants are in flower while others are growing new leaves. I chose plants that mostly flower in September and invented the garden from my imagination.

I constructed a fairy house from a shoe box and placed small plastic models inside to see how the light might look inside a hollow tree. All the games Lily plays are with simple things made from her environment...nothing is plastic or purchased. My subject concerns being able to amuse yourself alone out of doors if you engage imagination and ingenuity. ENJOY!
